Job Description
The Export and Import Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient handling of all import and export operations. This role ensures compliance with international regulations, optimizes logistics processes, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve timely and cost-effective transportation of goods. The supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining smooth supply chain operations while minimizing delays and costs.
1. Import and Export Operations Management:
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day import and export logistics activities.
- Ensure accurate preparation and review of shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping lines to ensure timely shipments.
2. Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor changes in import/export regulations and communicate their impact to relevant teams.
- Maintain and organize records of all logistics operations and ensure proper documentation for audits.
3. Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to plan and schedule shipments.
- Communicate shipment statuses, delays, or issues to stakeholders proactively.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with logistics service providers to achieve cost savings.
4. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track shipment performance metrics, including delivery timelines, freight costs, and service quality.
- Analyze logistics operations to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Prepare and present reports on logistics performance and cost analysis to management.
5. Team Leadership:
- Supervise and guide logistics staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the team.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 6–10 years of experience in import/export logistics, with supervisory responsibilities.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations and documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS, customs procedures, and freight forwarding.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications.
