Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Cartographer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a Cartographer, you will perform spatial analyses of archeological data and creates spatial analytical graphics for analysts using geographic information systems and other digital methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geography, GIS technology, and data analysis. Main Duties and Responsibilities:Creates maps, graphs, and other illustrations and maintains their quality control for various project and technical reports.Researches, installs, and troubleshoots new automated cartographic hardware and software according to work requirements.Determine the management's requirements for the ability to meet the different departments' needs in providing paper sheet maps by preparing fixed templates for map printing at different drawing scales on paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3, A4).Edits, revises, updates, and/or corrects independently reviewed data, agency/client reviewed maps, data, or illustrations; further refines analytical graphics for analysts.Creates, records, and/or digitally extracts geospatial or statistical data from a variety of sources, and performs spatial analysis on the data.Conduct research to gather data on geographic features, climate patterns, and demographics.Maintains and updates a map library for the assigned operating unit.Follow the fundamental rules and techniques in cartography and the creation and development of symbols in geographic information systems.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of GIS experience or equivalent.Proficient in using cartographic software and GIS tools such as (ArcGIS, QGIS, or MapInfo).Follow the management's requirements in designing maps to meet the departments' needs. Key Competencies:Strong knowledge of map design principles and cartographic techniques.Familiarity with international cartographic standards and guidelines.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in map designing.Knowledge of sources and various methods of manual and digital extraction of geospatial data.Ability to utilize basic graphical representation techniques to clearly visualize data.Good communication and interpersonal skills.
