Job Description
Scope
The incumbent of this position normally would work with and receive direction from QC Supervisor.
He is responsible for the lab Instrument calibration in the assigned area, troubleshooting & maintenance of instruments.
Test Methodology, developing new methods, quality decision, documentation, auditing, corrective action for nonconformance, training the technician, safety aspects on job.
Continuous maintenance service to all laboratory apparatus, equipment and instruments and maintains a workable level of spare parts.
May serve as a technical reference for other technician level personnel.
PRINCIPAL TASKS TO FULFI
L:Has experience in all type of Physical, Chemicals and wet analysis related analysis to Petrochemicals plants MFC, HDPE, Aromatic
s.Provides technical expertise in own area of work and experience.
Makes interpretations and correlations of basic data as required to make a complete and comprehensive analysi
s.Develops the documentation for the test methods, to comply with SATORP Laboratory Analytical Methods Manual ISO9000/ISO14000/ISO17025 and HSE requirement
s.Conducts standard run checks to ensure instruments’ accuracy and reliability.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and retain laboratory equipment in good conditio
n.Monitors the performance of instruments, reagents and methodology, acts to take preventive action to avoid the non-conformity.
Reports out-of-order and out-of-calibration instruments to the direct supervisor in a timely manne
r.Train technicians to analyze the samples to comply with standard methods.
Coordinates with Lab shift supervisor for analyzing the special samples from process and guides for proper handling of the samples and preparation of the sample for testing, for methodology for the analysi
s.Schedules and calibrates the Instruments as per the required frequency and maintains the record
s.Receives Laboratory Equipment Repair Requests, troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, investigates causes of instrument failure and repairs defective instrumentation and contacts equipment vendors in case of major problem
s.Maintains a workable level of spare parts and consumables for equipment maintenance.
Prepares purchase orders, fills, issues request forms for warehouse storage, and updates spare parts record
s.Performs other duties such as preparing the annual budget for spare parts purchasing, attending staff meetings, preparing activity reports and adhering to safety and housekeeping regulation

Job Requirements
Candidates should have a Bachelor or Diploma in Chemical/Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry and a minimum of ten years of experience in petrochemical laboratory testing.
