You must have the capacity to lead a team, exercise sound judgment, have excellent writing abilities, and pay close attention to detail in order to be successful as our Managing Editor.A managing editor combines the innovativeness of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager. You should be able to suggest ideas for stories and see them through to publication. We expect excellent organizational and leadership skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability.RequirementsRoles and responsibilities: Plan and manage all daily operationsHire, coach and supervise personnelCollaborate with editor in chief to determine issues' content and topicsCoordinate editorial publications and meetingsPlan and approve assignments for writers and editorsControl schedules and enforce deadlines (for writers, photographers, designers etc.)Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessaryAssist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style and toneResolve issues as they ariseAttend events on behalf of the company or editor in chief Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience as managing editor or relevant roleExceptional ability in copywriting and editingProficiency in EnglishWorking knowledge of online platforms like WordPress and SEO conceptsAbilities in planning and coordinating people and operationsExcellent organizational and leadership skillsOutstanding communication and people abilitiesReliability and efficiencyAttention to detailBSc/BA in journalism or relevant field
