Identifies, evaluates, negotiates, executes and monitors Real Estate investments across multiple sectors, geographies, and structures including contributing to all aspects of the deal execution and portfolio management process as a member of the deal team.Main responsibilitiesKey role in assessing and executing on pipeline opportunities. Assists in screening and production of screening memos of new investments considering all relevant macro and industry trends in accordance with the Department’s investment mandate.Evaluates prospective investments across sectors, geographies and structures, evaluating various aspects of a particular investment. Production of financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis and an understanding of real estate waterfalls and incentive fees.Uses financial models to review financial projections of existing investments and maintains project files with all relevant information. Assesses the climate of the sector and country of the potential investment, reviews information from respected sources and pro-actively obtains any required additional information.Carries out regular research and information gathering to ascertain and build up data on potential investments and activities. Reviews and analyses investment information and financial briefs as well as financial and investment periodicals. Utilises a network of industry contacts to obtain relevant information on potential investment opportunities.Establishes and maintains relationships with GPs, advisors and industry contacts.Evaluates the performance of existing investments and seeks to improve value through the consideration of strategic initiatives. Participates in active portfolio management, including attending manager calls, LPAC meetings and board meetings.Benchmarks investment opportunities against relevant peers and comparable companies/precedent transactions, with an ability to understand key risk parameters and attractive risk adjusted transactions.Carries out due diligence to identify the critical factors that impact upon an investment. This includes demonstrating sound understanding of relevant operational and financial practices. Liaising with other Council Units such as Strategy, Risk, Legal and Compliance in order to identify, mitigate and resolve potential investment issues.Prepares investment committee recommendations on an accurate and timely basis as well as internal monitoring documents such as company updates, company dashboards and meeting notes for the team and the investment committee.Maintains and updates records for all activities in the assigned countries, sectors and companies. Requests information from various sources and provides research findings to other personnel within the Council. Attends meetings with Companies and PMs.Carries out thorough review of existing positions through regular interactions or through third party reports, to reinforce confidence that the manager follows the underlying principles of fair representation and full disclosure in areas like valuation and consistency of internal policies. Understands well what distinguishes a fund manager in term of profile, strategy and performance. Assists in the production of portfolio review presentations for portfolio manager and senior management.Demonstrates sound understanding of the Real Estate asset class, including the attributes affecting the risk/return profile of different investment opportunities and the main elements necessary to construct a well-diversified portfolio.Monitors performance and risk parameters by producing return analysis and performance attribution of different investments and portfolios.Works independently, shows initiative and strong attention to detail.Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned.Education and experienceUniversity DegreeMaster's degree, MBA or other financial qualification preferableRelevant experience at a reputable investment firm in a buy-side role covering Real Estate
