Job Summary
The Fleet section Head is responsible for overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of the company’s vehicle fleet operations. This includes vehicle acquisition, maintenance, licensing, cost control, driver management, fuel monitoring, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role aims to ensure the fleet operates efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while supporting the company's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fleet Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the company’s fleet, including cars, trucks, buses, and specialized vehicles.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for efficient fleet management.
- Monitor vehicle availability to ensure optimal utilization and timely allocation to departments.
2. Vehicle Acquisition & Disposal
- Manage the procurement process for new vehicles, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with company standards.
- Plan vehicle replacement cycles and coordinate the disposal or resale of old vehicles.
3. Maintenance & Repairs
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Coordinate with workshops, suppliers, and service providers for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure proper documentation of service history for each vehicle.
4. Driver Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and ensure adherence to driving policies and procedures.
- Investigate accidents, manage claims, and implement corrective measures.
5. Fuel & Cost Control
- Monitor fuel consumption and implement cost-control measures to minimize operational expenses.
- Track and analyze fleet-related costs, including leasing, insurance, repairs, and fuel usage.
- Prepare periodic reports on fleet expenses and propose strategies for cost optimization.
6. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local transportation regulations, licensing, and environmental standards.
- Enforce company safety policies and conduct regular driver safety training sessions.
- Maintain up-to-date vehicle documentation, permits, and insurance.
7. Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare detailed reports on fleet performance, cost analysis, and operational efficiency.
- Provide data-driven insights to management for decision-making and budgeting purposes.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations.( FMCG )
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of fleet management systems (FMS) and GPS tracking tools.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of transportation laws and safety regulations.
