Role Overview:
Transportation Specialist will be responsible for coordinate and oversee our daily transportation operations. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in a transportation role, with a proven ability to manage schedules, monitor costs, enforce safety protocols, and improve operational efficiency.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Route Coordination: Plan and schedule daily routes for personnel to ensure efficient resource utilization and on-time performance.
- Cost Monitoring: Track and control transportation expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high service standards.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee vehicle maintenance by scheduling regular checks and ensuring vehicles remain in optimal condition.
- Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce safety measures for all transportation operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Documentation Management: Process and manage transportation documentation, including delivery notes, route logs, and driver reports, to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve transportation-related issues, such as delays, accidents, and employee concerns, with timely and effective solutions.
- Route Evaluation: Assess and recommend route improvements, using GPS and routing software to enhance efficiency and reduce travel time.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans for incidents, ensuring preparedness for unexpected situations.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports on transportation operations, covering vehicle utilization, complaints, and transport needs.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- At least three years in transportation management or a similar field.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in GPS and routing software.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- Ability for occasional travel.
