Job Description
- Prepare, review, and manage detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for mechanical engineering projects.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets and resource allocation.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor project expenditures, track progress, and prepare regular cost reports for stakeholders.
- Assess and certify interim and final payments for contractors and suppliers in accordance with contract terms.
- Identify, analyze, and manage project risks related to costs, contracts, and timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams to ensure accurate cost forecasting and control.
- Support tendering processes, including the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal requirements, and company policies throughout all project phases.
- Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and support staff, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years and maximum of 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical quantity surveying or cost engineering.
- Proven track record in managing cost estimation, contract administration, and project budgeting for mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, outcome-driven environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to work in an office-based arrangement with occasional site visits as required.
