Job Description
1 – responsible for the herd (milking, dry, heifers and suckling calves) from the health point of view.
2 – Daily checking and treatment of animals need to be checked or treated and newly separated sick animals.
3 – Follow up cows and heifers in parturition to give safe birth and live calf as can as possible through coordination with vet team leader, other vets and technicians.
4 – Follow up the fresh cows during the first 3 weeks after delivery concerning retained placenta, metritis and so on
5 – Follow up the recommended drenching programs for fresh, emaciated and sick cows (propylene & calcium)
6 –Applying the recommended vaccination programs of the herd (milking, dry, heifers and suckling calves) through coordination with vet sector manager, vet team leader and other sections.
7 – Follow up hoof care programs, lameness score and treatment of lame cows
8 – Follow up mastitis control and giving treatment to mastitis cows through coordination with parlor section
9 – Make daily round in the farm to stand on the general health condition of the herd
10 – Collecting blood samples for Brucella and John’s and doing TB survey through coordination with vet section manager, farm manger and other sections
11 – Doing the necessary reports (daily, weekly or monthly reports)
12 – Coordination and follow-up to his assistants and labors in the vet section
13 - Doing the necessary surgical operations assisted by another vet and technicians during the operation.
14 – Responding to the emergency call according to the schedule
15 - Cover other vets during their vacations and holidays
16 – Planning for training of all employees under his supervision
17 – Doing dehorning and removal of extra teats for calves
18 – Magnet drench in heifers according to the program
19 – Follow-up the average daily gain for calves on monthly basis from the health point of view through coordination with feeding sector and nursery engineer.
Job Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in dairy or livestock production.
- Excellent knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and prevention programs.
- Comprehensive understanding of animal production processes and the impact of health on productivity.
- Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks.
- Familiarity with infectious and non-infectious animal diseases, their diagnosis and treatment methods.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in the use of various computer programs.
- Communication, organizational, time management, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Initiative and quick thinking.
- Analytical thinking and the ability to quickly identify the causes of health problems.
