As an Applicative DBA, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that support high-performance applications. You’ll partner with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure our data architecture is secure, scalable, and aligned with business goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain databases that support mission-critical applications, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database schemas and queries.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to improve scalability and reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for databases.
  • Ensure database security by implementing best practices, including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Perform capacity planning and proactively address storage and performance needs.
  • Support developers in debugging and resolving database-related application issues.
  • Conduct regular health checks, database tuning, and maintenance tasks.
  • Automate routine database tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Stay updated on the latest database technologies and trends to propose improvements to the existing architecture.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on application-driven database management.
  • Expertise in designing and managing relational databases, such as:
    • PostgreSQL
    • MySQL
    • SQL Server
    • Oracle Database
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations (e.g., replication, clustering).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and data encryption.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams to align database design with application needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
