Job Description

Purpose of the position

Quality control manager inspects projects before, during, and after finishing them to ensure compliance with all safety and quality specifications. He develops and maintains a quality control plan (QC), creates documents and forms to track their findings, and supervises most of the work. The quality control manager is responsible for ensuring that company projects meet the highest standards of quality. Ensure inspection Requests (IR) procedure is implemented and relevant logs are maintained. Issuing of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow-up of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

Role Description 

 

Strategic (results) – 

  • Conduct periodic quality meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and that the workflow is running smoothly as per agreed daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
  • Ensure that all construction activities are undertaken per approved drawings/method statements and ITPs.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project related to Quality Control, and the overall implementation of the QMS at the project site.
  • Develop, manage, implement, communicate and maintain a quality plan to bring the Company’s Quality Control standards.
  • Set systems and policies into compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Follow up on all Quality Control activities.
  • Supervises inspections, reports, and the documentation issued by inspectors collect and file the required Quality Records.
  • Assesses the implementation of the Quality Control Plans on the Toshka project.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate systems for measuring the effectiveness of the department.
  • Ensure inspection Requests (IR) procedure is implemented and relevant logs are maintained.
  • Doing In-line inspection to check the quality.
  • Ensuring that all test reports are verified to meet the Contract requirements
  • Liaise with the supervision Consultant for daily inspections.
  • Follow-up pre-final inspection.

Operational (process) – 

  • Assisting QC Engineers with checking patterns/specifications and construction, identifying and resolving projects' impracticalities in an appropriately timely manner, and making a final decision on quality according to company standards and requirements.
  • Ensure all materials delivered to the site are inspected and conform to the specified requirements.
  • Issuing of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow-up of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare periodic QC reports regarding the project activities and achievements to be submitted to the Corporate QC Manager and employer/engineer weekly and monthly.
  • Ensure issuing and updating of documentation according to standard requirements.
  • Performing other duties related to the job as assigned by the Corporate QC Manager.

  • Determination of adverse quality trends and taking necessary action(s), in conjunction with others as appropriate, to address emerging issues.
  • Carry out performance appraisals for subordinates according to the planned Schedules and recommends necessary actions as per the adopted procedures.
  • Allocates Quality Control personnel to the various areas of site activity.

Customer Satisfaction (internal and external):  

  • Supports the Site Manager in dealing with the Client for all Quality matters.
  • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.
  • Manage and develop quality control personnel.
  • Maintains the company quality control policies and programs to ensure the final project meets the agreed specifications by the company and the customer
  • Supports and participates in all internal/external audits.

Job Requirements

Role Specification

 

Academic & trades qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • (+10 years) Experience in Quality Controlling.
  • A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant industry experience (Drilling, Infrastructure, Electric) in the same or similar area.
  • Proven experience in the infrastructure field.
  • Deep knowledge of the market the company operates in.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of quality requirements, industry norms, and contract specifications.
  • Related coursework plus a certified quality engineer certificate is required.
