Job Description

General description:

The position will be responsible for support team operating in database management scope of Microsoft SQL Server and do all the work operation including ensuring data integrity and availability.

Responsibilities

Analyze and Design Database

  • Perform research and analyze requirements.
  • Create and refine conceptual and logical data models.
  • Identify high-level business rules for data model.
  • Adapt conceptual and logical data models to enterprise model.
  • Identify backup and recovery requirements.
  • Design distributed data models.

Develop and Implement Database

  • Develop physical database characteristics and user interface.
  • Create database objects.
  • Select unique identifiers and normalize the data model.
  • Support population of database.
  • Develop and implement testing of database components.
  • Develop and validate database implementation plan.
  • Deploy database.
  • Produce business and technical documents.

Perform Administration and Maintenance

  • Develop and implement monitoring plan.
  • Analyze monitoring data.
  • Manage backup and recovery both on-site and off-site.
  • Create and implement maintenance plan for regular integrity checks.
  • Audit database systems.

Perform Security Administration

  • Gather and document security requirements.
  • Design and document security plan.
  • Implement and enforce security requirements.

Provide Client Services

  • Ability to define and solve application problems.
  • Knowledge of user applications and ability to assess user impact on database system.
  • Ability to work with and demonstrate commitment to client/user.

Critical work functions

  • Perform Installations (Hardware Requirements, Working with Previous Versions, Database Installation).
  • Manage Database (Executing TSQL Queries, SQLCMD Variables, and Dedicated Administrator Connections).
  • Create Database (Creating a Database, Generating Scripts, Shrinking Database Files, and Data types).
  • Know How Transaction Logs Work and its advantage, How SQL Server Stores Data.
  • Perform Database automation (Creating Operators, Creating Jobs, and Creating Alerts).
  • Implement Database Backup and Restoring (Backup Strategy, Backup Types, Database Recovery Process, and Restoring a Database).
  • Implement Database security (Authentication Modes, Permissions, Managing Schemas, and TSQL Permissions).
  • Implement High Availability solutions (Clustering, Standby Servers, and Database Mirroring).

Job Requirements

  • Computer science or relevant discipline graduate.
  • 2 years’ relevant experience in Database Administration.
  • Excellent analysis, design, and trouble shooting skills.
  • Certified Database Administration in MS SQL is a must.
  • Familiar with Database Architectures & High Availability Solutions.
  • Preferred to have knowledge in Oracle & DB2 as well.
