Job Description

  • The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the management of all logistics matters related to Terre des hommes (Tdh) Delegation and Tdh programme in Egypt.
  • She/He autonomously guarantees and manages planning and the daily decisions and action to be taken within the logistics field, in close coordination with the Management Committee and under the supervision of the Country Representative.
  • The incumbent commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organization functioning.
  • She/he will conduct her/his duties in respect of the Charter of Tdh and Tdh Safeguarding Policy.
  • She/he commits to ensure high level of children participation and will always work in the best interest of the child.

Main duties and responsibilities :

  • Guarantee the logistics management of the delegation and its programms within Tdh areas of intervention in Egypt (main offices in Cairo, Assiut and Damietta)
  • Supervise the definition, the regular update and the proper implementation of procurement plans for all Tdh programms in Egypt; control that procurement is carried out according to this plan and in accordance to Tdh procurement procedures (e.g. collection of quotations, bid analysis, market assessments, etc.)
  • Guarantee the security and management of any goods at Tdh (securing human and material resources) and organize the assignment of the equipment
  • Identify the needs, choose the suppliers, set and guarantee the budget tracking, monitor the necessary replacement or upgrade for the equipment.
  • Ensure the logistic aspects of travels within the project framework (planning, vehicles, routes, etc.), as well as preventive and curative maintenance of the fleet of vehicles
  • Ensure the physical management of stocks (e.g. stock inventory, stock check, stock reconciliation, etc.)
  • Actively contribute to the close coordination between logistics staff and programme staff, and between support services: finance, HR, logistics, admin.
  • Participate to Management Committee meetings and contribute to all Management Committee activities.
  • Ensure the coaching of all staff members under her/his responsibility: recruitment, induction, definition and regular follow-up of individual action plan, etc. Implement HR good practices so that logistics management respects the values of Tdh.
  • Know and implement policies on security, child protection and fraud prevention.
  • Contribute to the smooth flow of operational information within the delegation and with headquarters (especially for institutional reporting).
  • work in close relationships with the projects coordinator and Delegate in order to comply and re-adapt if needed to field constraints
  • Provide punctual support, monitoring and liaison with Tdh partners to ensure good levels of practice and application of Tdh accountancy and logistics procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Experience of 10 years in the same field and 3 years minimum in humanitarian/development logistics management with proven experience of the management of a logistics team.
  • Academic background in logistics or relevant technical field (desired).
  • Excellent organisational, training and coaching skills is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability. Listening and diplomacy skills. Team spirit.
  • Ability to work in participatory manner with staff to assess needs, implement and monitor activities.
  • Languages: English mandatory.
