Job Description
- We are looking for a responsible HSE Engineer to facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
- Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs
- Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures
- Provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations
- Largely focused on prevention so you need to be conscientious and farsighted
- Establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.
- Support the development of OHS policies, programs Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
- Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety and health, or related field
- Minimum of (10) years previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs
- Solid knowledge of state and local statutes and ordinances on fire safety and prevention, loss control, hazardous chemicals, building, electrical, noise pollution and the environment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk through the work day
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Up-to-date on latest local and state regulation and guideline changes
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
