Job Description
We currently recruiting for the role of Database Administrator To administer, Troubleshoot and maintain availability and performance for all Databases to guarantee seamless and secure data flow between backend databases and the bank applications.
Duties and Responsibilities Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
- Build, configure, and maintain highly available and scalable database management systems environments based on various technologies (IBM DB2, Teradata, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle) to meet applications’ backend requirements.
- Create, maintain and troubleshoot database instances and ensure their maximum performance for the relying applications.
- Perform on-going tuning for the database engines, instances and queries to continuously improve databases’ performance and response time to the relying applications.
- Perform and automate ongoing health checks, performance tuning, resources utilization analysis, and conduct risk assessment exercises for database environments to ensure efficiency, availability and smooth functionality
- Apply fixes and security patches to remediate security issues, comply with the global security standards (PCI, ISO, etc.), close audit requirements and findings and support the bank strategy for implementing security baselines.
- Ensure all databases are monitored on 24/7 basis along with logging, alerting, notifications and provide the monitoring team with the monitors, performance indicators and thresholds to be enabled/configured.
- Apply technology best practices, upgrades, apply vendor recommendations, provide support to the applications’ different teams during troubleshooting and projects and implementations.
- Ensure and test Databases’ availability in Disaster recovery situations.
- Ensure all databases are being backed up according to the applications and business requirements along with performing regular restore tests to ensure backup/restore procedures are effective and the backups are valid.
- Participate in capacity planning and performance trend analysis exercises by submitting regular databases’ performance and utilization reports.
- Participate in writing technical procedures, run books, documentations for database management systems.
- Apply service and operation level agreements (SLA/OLA) in addition to abiding to target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree of Engineering, Computer science or its equivalent.
- Must have profound experience in one or more database administration technologies (Oracle, SQL, Teradata, DB2).
- Good understanding of operating systems (Unix, Solaris, MS Windows).
- Good understating of storage, networking and security concepts.
Minimum to have one of the following certifications
- Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional
- Teradata Vantage Certified Administrator
- IBM Certified Database Administrator (DB2)
- MCSA: SQL Database Administration
- Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic languages.
- Good Communication and Presentation skills.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
