Job Description

The UC Junior Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of Exchange Server and Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure at Ebank. The role entails managing user accounts, ensuring seamless email flow, overseeing system backups, and maintaining optimal performance and security of the Exchange environment. This individual will also contribute to disaster recovery readiness, conduct regular health checks, and collaborate across IT functions to ensure reliable and secure communication services within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

User Account and Mailbox Management

  • Create, modify, and delete user accounts, mailboxes, and distribution lists.
  • Configure and manage mailbox permissions, access rights, and storage quotas.

Email Flow and Message Delivery

  • Monitor and troubleshoot email traffic to ensure proper message delivery.
  • Resolve email delivery issues including message queues and DNS configurations.

Backup and Restore Operations

  • Conduct regular backups of Exchange databases and mailboxes.
  • Test and perform restoration procedures during data loss or corruption events.

Patch Management and Updates

  • Apply patches, updates, and service packs to Exchange servers.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime.

Monitoring and Performance Optimization

  • Monitor system performance, server health, and resource utilization.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks; optimize Exchange configurations.

Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability

  • Implement and manage DR drill procedures to validate recovery readiness.
  • Execute switchback operations post-drill or actual recovery events.

Additional Technical Operations

  • Run regular health checks on Active Directory and Exchange servers.
  • Install and validate security updates; manage internal and external access.
  • Configure databases, DAGs, and database copies across mailbox servers.
  • Manage DNS records for Autodiscover and SMTP routing.
  • Configure and verify client access (internal/external).
  • Administer public certificates for secure communication.
  • Utilize load balancers for Exchange server traffic distribution.

Business and Operational Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to email-related incidents and service disruptions.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and technical policies.
  • Prepare and deliver system health and performance reports.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional IT teams on projects and solutions.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in Exchange Server administration or Unified Communications support.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Exchange Server management.
  • Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, SMTP, and Autodiscover services.
  • Knowledge of DAG configuration and mailbox database management.
  • Familiarity with backup and restoration tools and techniques.
  • Experience with patch management and system updates.
  • Knowledge of load balancing and certificate management best practices.
