Job Summary:
The Marine Procurement Junior is responsible for supporting the procurement of all goods and services related to the operation, maintenance, and outfitting of marine vessels. This includes machinery, mechanical components, finishing materials, and other related supplies. The role involves close coordination with the Director of Procurement, vendors, marine engineers, and vessel operators to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing aligned with project and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in sourcing and procuring equipment, machinery, and finishing materials for marine vessels.
Maintain accurate procurement records including quotations, purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier correspondence.
Evaluate suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions under supervision.
Coordinate with marine technical teams to understand specifications and ensure proper item selection.
Follow up with vendors to track order status and ensure timely delivery.
Assist in managing supplier databases and maintaining vendor relationships.
Support budget control by ensuring purchases are within allocated cost limits.
Comply with company procurement policies and marine industry standards.
Prepare regular reports and updates for the Director of Procurement.
Contribute to process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the marine or shipping industry.
Strong understanding of marine equipment and terminology is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software (ERP systems preferred).
Good communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
