Job Description

  • Oversee the daily operations of the CNC machine shop, ensuring that all work is completed on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Manage a team of skilled machinists, providing guidance and support to ensure they can achieve their full potential.
  •  Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Develop and maintain production plans, coordinating with other departments to ensure that all necessary materials and resources are available when needed.
  • Monitor the quality of output, implementing corrective actions where necessary to maintain our high standards.
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained in good working order, scheduling regular inspections and maintenance as required.
  • Uphold all health and safety regulations, creating a safe and positive work environment for all staff.
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers, building strong relationships and ensuring that all communications are handled in a professional and timely manner.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments, implementing new technologies and techniques where they can improve our operations.
     

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a managerial role within a CNC machine shop.
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC machining and fabrication techniques.
  • Proven experience implementing lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of motivating and developing a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and staff at all levels.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations within a machining environment.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for production planning and inventory management.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering or a related field would be advantageous.
