Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position serves as a dedicated Edtech expert supporting the administration of our Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure its optimal functionality. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in Moodle, including plugin management and customization, and will provide essential support to both our educators and learners. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a systematic approach to archive and reset courses ensuring the retention of course registrations, grades, session recordings, training completion, etc.
  • Assist in the management of user roles and permissions
  • Monitor and enforce policies, ensuring that Moodle usage aligns with established accessibility guidelines and security standards
  • Handle course creation requests and configure class gradebooks and attendance activities.
  • Offer prompt technical support for all and any Moodle-related inquiries
  • Respond promptly to inquiries, follow up on emails, and address tickets from Amideast users, providing clear and helpful solutions to questions related to Moodle and other relevant systems
  • Support capacity building initiatives for Amideast staff, ensuring their proficiency in using Moodle
  • Prepare reports documenting materials and technical assistance provided
  • Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during the delivery of courses, ensuring a seamless learning experience for users
  • Stay informed about the development paths and new versions of Moodle plugins, ensuring our LMS remains up-to-date and efficient

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent in this position will work in a professional environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (either on a full time, temporary, or hybrid basis).

Up to 5% business travel may be needed.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Instructional Design, Information Management System (IMS), or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with Moodle
  • Proficiency in course authoring tools, with a demonstrated ability to support Moodle plugins, and customizations
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, MySQL, and the ability to write SQL queries
  • A deep technical understanding of Learning Management Systems
  • Familiarity with website design, video technology, and editing
  • Experience in responsive and accessible web design is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic
