Job Description
The Head of Primary Stage is responsible for the leadership, development, and management of the primary section of the school (typically Years/Grades 1–6 or equivalent). The role requires strategic oversight, operational effectiveness, academic leadership, and a focus on student well-being and progress. The position ensures high standards of teaching and learning, aligned with the school’s vision and educational framework.
1. Leadership & Management
Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Primary Stage.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving culture among staff and students.
Lead and manage the performance, development, and appraisal of primary teaching staff.
Organize regular staff meetings, training, and professional development activities.
2. Curriculum and Teaching
Oversee the implementation and review of a balanced and engaging primary curriculum.
Ensure effective lesson planning, assessment, and student tracking systems are in place.
Support the integration of innovative teaching methods and technology.
Promote high standards of literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning.
3. Student Development & Welfare
Ensure the academic and pastoral needs of all primary students are met.
Monitor student progress and implement interventions where necessary.
Promote a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
Liaise with parents and guardians to foster strong home-school partnerships.
4. Administration & Compliance
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Primary Stage, including scheduling, timetabling, and resource allocation.
Ensure compliance with school policies, national/international education standards, and safeguarding regulations.
Prepare reports for the school leadership, board, and external inspectors as required.
5. Community Engagement
Represent the Primary Stage at school events, parent meetings, and community activities.
Promote the school’s mission and values within the wider school community.
Engage with stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of the primary education offered.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and educational leadership.
- Strong understanding of child development, pedagogy, and modern teaching practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
