Job Description

As a Planning and Cost Control Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects related to project planning, cost estimation, and quantity surveying within the construction industry. You will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and milestones.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to identify project requirements and objectives.
  • Utilize project management software/tools to track progress and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine cost implications and feasibility.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Conduct quantity surveys to accurately measure and quantify materials, labor, and other resources required for construction.
  • Prepare bills of quantities (BOQ) and procurement schedules based on project specifications.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of contract documents, including agreements, change orders, and payment schedules.
  • Monitor contract compliance and resolve any disputes or discrepancies that may arise during construction.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to ensure contracts are executed in accordance with company policies and regulations.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations to project teams for risk avoidance or mitigation measures.
  • Monitor project performance indicators and implement corrective actions as needed to minimize project risks.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in project planning, cost estimation, and quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in project management software/tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
