Job Description
The Design & Estimation Engineer in the Lighting Department is responsible for designing efficient lighting systems, preparing accurate cost estimates, and providing technical support for projects. This role involves collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver optimal lighting solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and energy efficiency guidelines.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs for lighting projects.
Analyze tender documents, BOQ (Bill of Quantities), and project specifications.
Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
Collaborate with the procurement team to finalize project budgets.
Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to understand project requirements.
Provide technical support during project execution, including site visits if necessary.
Review and optimize lighting designs for cost-effectiveness and performance.
Assist in value engineering to reduce costs without compromising quality.
Prepare technical proposals, tender submissions, and project reports.
Maintain records of design changes, cost variations, and project progress.
Ensure all documentation adheres to company and industry standards.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years in lighting design, estimation, or a similar role.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, AGi32, and MS Office (Excel, Project).
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of lighting products, control systems, and energy-efficient solutions.
Familiarity with electrical load calculations and power distribution.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
