Job Description
• Review and evaluate reinsurance treaties and agreements related to both retail and group life insurance business to ensure alignment with the company’s financial goals and risk appetite.
• Support the negotiation and placement process of reinsurance arrangements by coordinating effectively with brokers and reinsurers to secure favorable terms.
• Monitor the performance of existing reinsurance contracts, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and identifying areas for cost-efficiency and improvement.
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to assess risk profiles and determine the need and structure of reinsurance coverage.
• Conduct periodic reviews of reinsurance strategies in light of emerging industry trends, regulatory updates, and market dynamics, providing strategic recommendations when needed.
• Prepare regular performance reports and presentations for senior management, offering insights into reinsurance program metrics, trends, and strategic outcomes.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation of all reinsurance-related activities, including treaty structures, pricing methods, and claims experience.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with reinsurers, brokers, and internal departments to ensure seamless communication and execution.
• Keep up to date with developments in the insurance and reinsurance markets, as well as advancements in actuarial science and best practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in reinsurance, actuarial analysis, or risk management, particularly within life insurance.
- Progress toward an actuarial certification (e.g., Associate/Fellowship in SOA, IFoA) or strong commitment to obtaining one.
- Previous hands-on experience in analyzing reinsurance arrangements or working within actuarial functions is a strong plus.
- Solid understanding of both retail and group life insurance products and how reinsurance applies to them.
- Technical proficiency in actuarial modeling tools (e.g., Prophet, MoSes) and programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
