Job Description

Job PurposeIn this role, the employee shall have the full competence in the specialized area of project planning and is responsible for developing and maintaining the project plans and schedules for the GANS Projects portfolio across the various contracts/programmes he/she is assigned to. This function shall also maintain a basic level of understanding in all areas of project management as applied in our organization, to support the project managers.Duties & ResponsibilitiesCreating and maintaining Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), plans & schedules for all phases of the project - prepare Project Plans & Schedules (Gantt charts and other required formats) to accurately reflect project timelines as per contractual terms and project specifications. Estimating time and cost for each phase of the project to ensure that delivery deadlines are met.Creating detailed outlines of tasks that need to be completed, who will perform them, how they will be completed, and when they will begin and end.Track and monitor project progress against approved plans & baseline and report any variances in a timely manner. Coordinating with project team members and stakeholders including but not limited to: Project managers, SMEs (ATC Ops, engineers, AIS…), related personnel from suppliers/contractors, customer/other airport department representatives, logistics/stores etc.Monitor contractor’s weekly/monthly reports to track progress and resource availability and escalate any shortfalls to the Project manager for prompt action.Develop and maintain project risk, issue, and opportunity registers to support the project teams in pro-active risks management in a timely manner. Manage designated smaller, less complex ANS projects/tasks under the supervision of the Project Manager to support departmental activity. Assist the Project Manager with the development of project initiation and planning documentation, such as business cases, operational/technical requirements, Scope of Works, Bill of Quantities etc.Evaluation of Extension-of-time (EoT) claims and submissions made by contractors and engaging with the contractor’s planning team to review/challenge the submission and provide recommendations to the project manager.Creating reports with tracking schedules and narratives, detailing the status of projects, and highlighting any potential issues that may arise.Provide inputs to periodic project reports (Monthly, Annual, CPMO…) to support the Project Manager in communicating progress against plan. Participate in the project activities and meetings as required to support the Project Manager and engage with the planning specialists and other relevant stakeholders to fulfil the prime responsibilities. Assist the Project Manager in tracking project spend against approved budgets to ensure any variances are identified and addressed in a proactive manner. Communicating regularly with clients to provide updates on projects and answer questions regarding the status of a project.Perform any other duties delegated by the line manager from time to time to support departmental activities.Safety responsibilities and accountabilities of this position are detailed in the Safety Management Manual of the organization. The Job holder is required to maintain awareness and knowledge in relation to their safety responsibilities associated with their job function.Educational Qualification:• 3 year Higher National Diploma (HND) in a related Engineering discipline required.• Bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering/Technology discipline or Project Management preferred.Professional Certifications:• Professional training certification (preferably PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)) and verifiable experience on MS Project / Primavera P6 Planning & Scheduling software tools.• Project management qualification such as PMP and/or PRINCE2 preferred.Experience:• 3 years of experience working in a project management team/office, delivery environment, as independent planning engineer or project planner.• Experience of developing and maintaining project plans & schedules in MS Project is required (Primavera would be added advantage).Special Technical & Interpersonal Skills:• English language proficiency (written and spoken) required. Working knowledge of Arabic preferred • Proficient in use of project planning & scheduling software such as MS Project and/or Primavera• Proficient in MS Office tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)• Ability to generate high quality technical project reports including narratives of the delays, claims etc.• Knowledge and experience of QMS/IMS framework and practice (ISO standards 9001, 14001, 45001) in a project management and organisational framework.• Team player and problem solver with attention to detail, integrity, and strong work ethics. • Strong time management and prioritisation skills.• Ability to work under pressure and deliver as per demanding timeframes.• Project Management framework and related Technical Documentation• Risk Assessment & Management
