Job Description
Position SummaryThe ASC Academic Coach works closely with the Director of the ASC and the ASC team, offering academic coaching to all members of the AUS student community whether one-on-one or in groups, including students who are on academic probation or at risk of being placed on probation, students who have been reinstated following dismissal, undeclared students, those who require academic accommodations due to a documented and approved disability, and other responsibilities as required by the role.Job ResponsibilitiesAcademic CoachingEffectively utilize interpersonal coaching techniques to assist students.Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and faculty.Maintain appropriate student records, notes, statistics, etc.Maintain current knowledge of AUS academic policies and procedures, college curriculum and rules, and advising policies and procedures.Interpret academic policies and procedures.Teach learning strategies to support student success and monitor their implementation.Track the academic progress of the assigned student caseload.Contribute in meaningful ways to the field of academic coaching.Develop learning contracts to support student success and track the academic progress of the assigned student caseload.Generate reports on student success and service utilization.Lead student success workshops focused on academic development, time management, study strategies, and other essential skills to support student achievement and well-being.Represent the ASC at university events, including orientations and other institutional activities, promoting ASC services and fostering positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.Academic AccommodationsCoordinate academic accommodation for students with disabilities.Meet with each student with a disability who requests academic accommodation to collect and review medical documentation, as well as ASC policies and procedures on obtaining academic accommodation.Determine reasonable accommodation based on guidelines from the Americans with Disabilities Act and AUS-approved accommodation.Create a personalized contract for each student with a disability who requests academic accommodation and obtain the required approvals.Generate letters of accommodation to faculty and engage with instructors and relevant administrators as needed to ensure the implementation of approved accommodation.Qualifications And Skills RequiredBachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field.Experience in academic coaching/advising and disability services.Experience working with a diverse group of students and professionals in a multicultural setting.Proficiency with computer platforms, including but not limited to MS Office, database management, electronic scheduling, and record-keeping software.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.Ability to work effectively as a team player.Ability to learn and apply AUS requirements, policies, and procedures.Preferred Qualifications And SkillsMaster’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field.Fluency in Arabic is an asset.How To ApplyInterested applicants should fill out the form.AUS alumni are encouraged to apply.
