Senior Storage Engineer

OverviewThe opportunityAs a Senior Storage Engineer, your primary role will be to ensure the stability and high performance of our enterprise storage systems. You will be instrumental in guiding and advising our department on all aspects of storage technology, from subsystems to individual components. Your expertise will be key in leading the design and implementation of innovative storage solutions.Core42 is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, combining G42 Group’s expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a single platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations. Building on our capabilities as sovereign cloud and HPC specialist, we bring generative AI, cybersecurity, professional and managed services expertise to enable national-scale program deployments across industries.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Systems Architect in the design, implementation, and support of virtualization/storage projects within data center operations, ensuring alignment with cloud-specific requirements.Provide leadership and mentorship to junior storage administrators, coordinate implementation activities across multiple teams, and attend meetings to evaluate project engagement levels.Offer expert troubleshooting assistance and guidance to Linux/UNIX/Windows administrators for client-side SAN and NAS configurations.Lead the design, implementation, configuration, and administration of mission-critical Storage Systems, with a focus on multi-tenancy and isolated network environments.Work closely with Project Management, Application Development, and other infrastructure teams (Network, Security, Database) to develop scalable, maintainable, and highly available storage architectures, emphasizing cloud-specific considerations.Collaborate with the virtualization team to implement best practices around storage deployments in a cloud environment.Automate various storage administration tasks.Standardize PRODUCTION & TEST storage infrastructure, and develop operational processes and procedures to ensure optimal performance.Maintain and manage underlying storage platforms in line with best practice processes covering monitoring, reporting, performance, capacity, availability, and security management.Allocate storage to various client applications, share volumes, and Qtrees to different hosts, and manage NFS and CIFS protocol configurations for IP-based file system publishing.Monitor and maintain system health, including cluster status, and system logs.Execute upgrades of devices within the storage networks.Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving servers, storage arrays, directors, switches, and other components specific to cloud provider environments.QualificationsTo qualify for the role you must haveBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field.Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a storage engineerAdvanced knowledge and expertise in configuring, optimizing, and maintaining complex and heterogenous storage environments, including hardware, and software.Proficiency in storage computing principles, distributed storage, and parallel filesystems.Strong understanding of networking, and how it impacts storageExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex storage issues effectively.In-depth knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques for storage systems.Some scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for storage administration tasks.What We Look ForIf you are a performance-driven, inquisitive mind with the agility to adapt to ambiguity, you will fit right in.
