Job DescriptionThe Senior Project Accountant is responsible for preparing timely, accurate financial information to be provided to PA Manager, Finance Director, and ABS Management, in addition to fulfilling PA daily tasks in a team environment. Analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports the organization's finances to management and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.What You Will Do (may vary depending on assigned Region):Ensure the effectiveness of project accounting (PA) related controls. Prepare monthly work-in-progress (WIP) reports and WIP journal entries. Analytical review of project hours and cost-to-complete budgets. Coordinate with project managers to ensure that projects’ revenue, budgets, and forecast are up to date to determine a current estimated profit or loss. Analytical review of revenue and cost recognition on long-term contracts. Prepare monthly revenue accrual journal entries by revenue recognition criteria. Perform account reconciliations as required. Manage the design, preparation, and distribution of monthly project reports for the Western Hemisphere. Prepare ad hoc reports, as needed, using automatic accounting software or other appropriate database tools. Perform monthly closing of the projects module to enable timely reporting of financial information. Make correcting journal entries respective to the automated accounting system, where necessary. Attend and participate in divisional and local project meetings as required. Research and explain variances from budgets on financial reports to users of financial information. Prepare audit schedules for both external and internal audits. Assist in preparation work for field audits and answer auditors’ queries on statutory and management accounts. Support any PA projects initiated by the Western Hemisphere. Ongoing review, development, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures. What You Will Need:Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent in accounting. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience. Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesEffective reporting skills so that complicated financial information can be presented in a user-friendly format. Thorough knowledge of current business and accounting software. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to gather, input, analyze, interpret, and report financial data. Willingness and flexibility to work extra hours as required. Computer literate in the latest accounting software programs, with experience with Oracle preferred. Be willing to work under pressure. Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems. It Would Be Nice If You HadCPA preferred.
