Job description:JOB PURPOSEThis role provides operations support for specialty base oil production at the Jeddah and Yanbu Refineries. The successful candidate will help develop and refine process yields, feed and product qualities, operating costs, and mass balances for process configurations relevant to the plant’s various stages of output. This includes executing operational activities, optimize daily operations of the units, participating in deliverables during the detailed design phase of projects, including process simulations, test runs, and calculations, while addressing HAZOP and LOPA actions. This role requires a robust understanding of base oil production, including asset optimization, operations (start-up, shutdown, and turndown), and maintenance. This includes the consequences of equipment failure and the best way to troubleshoot solutions. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement programs for the Jeddah and Yanbu refineries, emphasizing Group 1 and Group 2 base oil production. This includes optimizing processes related to vacuum distillation, hydrocracking, hydro-dewaxing, propane de-asphalting, furfural, and mobile Lube de-waxing units. Partner with Asset Optimization to strengthen demand feed forecasting, standards, diesel transfers, ship scheduling, and Mass Balance/MIS reporting.Provide on-demand field technical advisory support to Luberef refineries on matters concerning the operation of base oil production, which include troubleshooting, start-up and shutdown activities, capacity test runs, technology pilot testing, and process design. Issue service reports highlighting the facilities need, actions taken, results, and lessons learned.Prepare and supervise with the Operation Superintendent critical operational activities: start-up, shutdown, and provide technical support to the Shift Supervisors throughout these activities.Monitor the unit’s performance on daily basis and ensure operating condition compliance with unit’s standard. Discuss and resolve any unit’s operation problem.Review any test requested by process engineering and ensure the test steps and data collection is implemented by the shifts team.Ensure and coordinate with operation manager / training section all the process of operators’ certification program.Write daily instructions to the Shift Supervisor in order to optimize units in accordance with the daily scheduling plan and process instruction.Control the daily application of and compliance with Refinery Standards established in the area of health, safety, environment and protection by all personnel.Participate in all incidents/accident investigations.  Participate in the risk analysis of any unusual operational or maintenance activities. Analyze operational problems and recommend solutions.Perform process engineering by analyzing the operations' processes and installing improvements to enhance processes' effectiveness and efficiency.Monitor unit alarms in coordination with the DCS personnel and take the required action.Track and follow-up KPIs to ensure proper implementation of plans and objectives.Review with the operation superintendent the operation procedures, create new procedure if required Education:BSC in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).Professional Engineer (preferred)Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.  The following certifications would be beneficial:Project Management Professional (PMP)Risk Management Professional (RMP).  Knowledge and Experience:7+ years of Refinery experience, emphasizing specialty base oil production. 3+ years as an operations engineer.Strong knowledge of refinery operation and process design, emphasizing base oil refinery technologies (Vacuum distillation, propane de-asphalting, Furfural extraction, MEK solvent dewaxing, catalytic dewaxing, H2 plant, Sulphur plant). Experience with hazard analysis techniques used in the refinery industry (HAZOP, LOPA).Completion of NEBOSH safety course or related training.Familiarity with RBI for static equipment and API standards 580/581 related to risk-based inspection & technology.Exposure to DCS, ESD, and SCADA automation. Ability to partner with Process Control System Engineers.
