Laboratory Technologist (Molecular Biologist/PCR Technician)

Job DescriptionThe job scope also includes:Assists with veterinary laboratory and procedures for all aspects of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s collection as directed by veterinarians and leadership which include analyses of hematology, chemistry, microbiology, mycology, parasitology, urinalysis, cytology and water chemistryComputes test results, documents and logs data, creates report for laboratory files and colleagues reference for various research projectsMaintains laboratory, pharmacy, surgical, radiographic, medical, operating, and necropsy supplies and equipmentAssists with maintenance schedule for laboratory medical equipment, inventory of testing material and components, and sanitation of laboratory area in accordance with leadership directionParticipates in the medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceansPreparation of samples for diagnostic testing and ancillary testingConsults and educates the animal colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally, guests in areas of health, welfare, and husbandryAssists with animal health research projects and prepares data results for presentations and peer-reviewed publicationsAssists in health assessments and possible field research with various speciesMaintains cleanliness and organization of the workplace for designated areasWorks varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; weekends, and holidaysPhysical requirements include: Able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs / 20kg on occasion; extensive walking or standing indoors or outdoors; tasks that involve repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, or liftingPerforms other duties as assignedTo be considered for this role, you will need to have:Diploma in a related field or equivalent At least 3 years of proven experience in a hospital setting as a medical technologistExcellent English communication skills and teamwork abilitiesAbility to be flexible and adapt quickly as the needs of the animal collection developKnowledge of laboratory equipment and technologiesKnowledge in analyzing fluids and tissuesKnowledge and experience in Molecular Biology Knowledge and experience in a PCR/Diagnostics laboratory Knowledge in current computer application, including in MS OfficeBasic mathematical skills
