Job Description
- Conduct site inspections for all ongoing electrical, mechanical, and civil works in the substation (e.g., GIS/AIS equipment installation, cable laying, busbar connections, earthing systems, etc.).
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment deliveries to verify compliance with approved technical submittals.
- Carry out inspections as per approved ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans) and maintain records for all stages.
- Prepare inspection requests (IRs) and coordinate with consultants/clients for witnessing.
- Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs), assist in root cause identification, and verify implementation of corrective actions.
- Monitor proper installation practices for protection panels, transformers, switchgear, MV/LV equipment, and control cabling.
- Review and verify testing documentation such as megger tests, continuity tests, torque checklists, and termination inspections.
- Ensure that all work activities follow the approved method statements and drawings.
- Maintain QC documentation, checklists, punch lists, redline drawings, and material traceability records.
- Support final handover by compiling the quality control portion of the project dossier.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures during inspections and testing.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 3-8 years of direct QC experience in substation construction projects (HV/MV).
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE) and utility specifications.
- Experience in equipment installation and inspection procedures for substations (e.g., transformers, switchgear, GIS, SCADA panels).
- Strong knowledge of site-level inspection and testing processes.
- Experience with documentation control and site reporting.
