Job Description
The mechanical Technical Engineer will be responsible for two things, studying and preparing bids for new tenders and invitations, preparing the commercial and technical proposal in order to submit the tender job successfully and hopefully award the project.
Secondly, he will be responsible for reviewing project technical documents, material specs, reviewing purchase orders, preparing and monitoring all cost-related matters to make complete proper cost control over the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review project documents - specs, drawings, Bill of Quantities, and ensure that there is no confusion between the documents as drawings, MTO, specs and standards.
· Attend meetings with the project owner or consultant or the suppliers to follow up with project status and search for better ways to finish the projects.
· Prepare project quantities through quantity surveying if they are not available in the project documents.
· Able to handle the material and service pricing process properly.
· Create commercial and technical proposals to ensure prompt and accurate compliance with the client’s requirements.
· Prepare handover for the project along with the project budget to be submitted and shared with the operations team.
· Review project design and technical documents.
· Review project material and purchase orders.
· Monitor the project budget to ensure that all the project items are finished within the budget.
· Coordinate with planning and construction team to make sure all site requirements (QS, MTO, VO, etc.) are available on time.
· Involve in all cost and technical related activities to make sure the project cost is not exceeding the budget.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical skills:
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Good user for AutoCAD 2D.
- Very good technical knowledge for all mechanical systems specially indusial and oil and gas systems, piping, tanks, rotating equipment, etc.
- Ability to understand Project's scope of work, GA drawing, Isometrics, P&ID's, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Familiar with international codes like ASME, ASTM, NFPA, etc.
- Familiar with project documentation, Procurement cycle, approval stages, engineering deliverables.
Personal skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Excellent Command of written English language and very good command of spoken English Language.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to control and handle multiple projects at the same time.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Professional years of experience, Minimum: 3 - Maximum: 6
- Past experience in oil and gas or industrial fields is preferred.
- Past experience as design engineer is preferred.
