Job Description
Job Purpose:
To ensure the reliable performance and compliance of Current Transformers (CTs), Potential Transformers (PTs), and Switchgear products by executing routine, type, and special tests according to international standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI). The Testing Engineer guarantees product integrity through systematic test procedures, fault analysis, and continuous improvement, supporting the company’s quality standards and customer satisfaction
Key Responsibilities:
1- Testing Execution:
- Perform routine, type, and special tests on CTs, PTs, and switchgear in accordance with IEC, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
- Operate and calibrate high-voltage testing equipment, insulation testers, ratio meters, burden testers, etc.
- Accurately record and analyze test results to ensure compliance with technical and safety specifications.
- Understand different kinds of electrical schematic drawings. Should be capable of tracing the fault & solving it (both electrical as well as mechanical) by referring the documents
- Worked in the testing field and should have knowledge of the testing equipment.
- Have the experience of high voltage testing, partial discharge testing and routine testing of switchgear product.
2- Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain test reports, checklists, calibration records, and final inspection documentation.
- Ensure all test procedures comply with regulatory and internal quality requirements.
- Participate in audits (internal/external) to demonstrate testing traceability and compliance.
3- Root Cause Analysis & Quality Feedback
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to identify root causes of test failures.
- Provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing for corrective and preventive actions.
4- Customer Support
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in front of customers and third-party inspectors.
- Address and resolve test-related customer queries and documentation needs.
- Capable to work independently and handle the day to day work load. Should supervise the team members and ability to deliver the out put in targeted time line.
- co-ordination with various cross functions like production, stores, packing and marketing/planning Should able to handle the customer inspection independently.
5- Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to testing methods, fixtures, and procedures.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen and Lean practices in the testing area for efficiency and safety.
- Support in various Improvement projects related to Quality & Energy.
6- Product Quality & Problem-Solving
- Participate in failure mode analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conforming test results.
- Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to solve design and manufacturing issues.
Job Requirements
Needed Qualifications & Key Competencies:
- BSC of Engineering in Electrical Power engineering is a MUST.
- 2-5 years of experience in Testing (Electric Power Products).
- Familiar with IEC & ANSI Standards.
- Strong understanding of insulation coordination, short circuit testing, ratio and polarity tests, and dielectric testing.
- Experience with transformer and breaker characteristics
- leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge in understanding technical design/drawings
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft office Word, Excel or PowerPoint
- High attention to detail and quality focus.
- Analytical thinking.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Working under pressure
- Proficiency in spoken & written English language
