- conduct comprehensive audits of facilities that produce, handle, or store Halal products. This involves inspecting slaughtering procedures, ingredient storage, production lines, and hygiene practices to ensure compliance with Halal standards.
- Reviewing Documentation: examine documentation related to ingredients, suppliers, slaughtering methods, and Halal certification procedures. This ensures all aspects of the supply chain adhere to Islamic guidelines.
- Assessing Halal Management Systems: evaluate the effectiveness of the company's Halal Management System (HMS) which ensures adherence to Halal principles throughout their operations. This may involve reviewing training programs for staff, internal control measures, and traceability procedures.
Reporting and Recommendations: prepare detailed audit reports documenting their findings, including observations, non-conformances (if any), and corrective action recommendations. These reports are crucial for maintaining Halal compliance. - Follow-Up: conduct follow-up audits to verify that corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
Job Requirements
- Deep understanding of Islamic principles and Sharia law as they apply to Halal food production.
- In-depth knowledge of Halal standards and guidelines established by recognized Halal certification bodies.
- Experience in auditing procedures and best practices. Prior experience in food safety audits can be a plus.
- Excellent observation and analytical skills to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with company staff, management, and certification bodies.
Additional desirable skills: - Experience in the food industry or a related field.
- Familiarity with relevant food safety regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding Arabic language (especially for religious texts related to Halal guidelines).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and clear presentation of findings.
- Halal Auditors play a critical role in upholding the trust and integrity of Halal products for Muslim consumers worldwide.
