Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Head of Facilities Management is responsible for the services of University facilities to ensure that they meet the needs of the organization and its employees, ensuring that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment is attained.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life cycle requirements.
  • Developing and implementing systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.
  • Developing and implementing measures to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the facility.
  • Generating and presenting regular reports and reviews of facility-related budgets, finances, contracts, expenditures and purchases.
  • Planning for the future by forecasting the facility’s upcoming needs and requirements.
  • Ensuring all processes and compliance programs are met.
  • Performing and documenting quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
  • Allocating and managing facility space for maximum efficiency.
  • Monitoring service contracts to ensure that facility management needs are being met.
  • Overseeing all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University policies and regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining emergency/disaster preparedness and recovery plans.
  • Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Managing teams of staff across different divisions.

Perform any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Estate and Facilities Management Executive Director

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Preferable Bachelor of Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant senior management position.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent IT skills, including word- processing and significant knowledge of MS Office, including spreadsheets and databases.
