Job Description
Job Summary: The Network and Security Engineer will design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and protection against security threats. This role requires in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security measures to safeguard the organization’s data and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement secure network infrastructure to support business operations.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and other security appliances.
- Monitor network performance and security systems for potential vulnerabilities, threats, and intrusions.
- Perform risk assessments and security audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement security measures such as encryption, access control, and multi-factor authentication.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems are secure and meet performance standards.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, load balancers, and other network devices.
- Manage the configuration and administration of network monitoring tools and logging systems.
- Respond to security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Train staff on cybersecurity practices and provide user support when needed.
- Stay updated with the latest security trends, tools, and technologies, and recommend upgrades or changes to the network.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- > 5 years experience as a Network Engineer, Security Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with firewall management, IDS/IPS systems, VPNs, and anti-virus software.
- Familiarity with cloud network security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and secure cloud architectures.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing routers, switches, and load balancers.
- Knowledge of encryption standards, VPN technologies, and network access controls.
- Experience in performing security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA) and data privacy laws.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
