Job Description

Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the project's technical and financial requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and quality standards.

Supplier Selection and Management:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance assessments to ensure reliability and compliance with agreed terms.

Technical Specification Review:

  • Review technical specifications and requirements for materials, equipment, or services to be procured.
  • Ensure that procurement decisions align with engineering project needs, addressing quality, cost, and schedule constraints.

Cost Control:

  • Oversee cost estimation for procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
  • Monitor and track procurement budgets, managing any variances and taking corrective actions as necessary.

Contract Negotiation:

  • Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  • Manage the administration of contracts, ensuring that both parties meet their contractual obligations.

Inventory Management:

  • Coordinate with the project team and warehouse to ensure that materials and equipment are available when needed, minimizing delays.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid excess or shortages, ensuring just-in-time delivery.

Project Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other departments to ensure that procurement aligns with project timelines and objectives.
  • Provide input on material choices, cost-effective alternatives, and scheduling requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify risks related to procurement and supply chain management, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on market trends, supply chain challenges, and global procurement risks to avoid disruptions.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and project status for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are well-documented for future reference, audits, or compliance checks.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Typically a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CIPS, PMP) can be an advantage.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in procurement, with significant exposure to engineering or construction industries.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of procurement processes, engineering materials, vendor management, contract law, and supply chain management.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with engineering concepts, drawings, specifications, and technical materials.
  • Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills, as the role requires working with various teams and suppliers.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess supplier proposals, conduct cost analyses, and make data-driven decisions.
