Purpose of the Job
In the rapidly evolving landscape of electric vehicles (EVs), and the transition towards it, marks a significant turning point in the automotive and energy sectors. As the demand for efficient and accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure grows, the role of a Project Lead for Electric Vehicle Charging Systems becomes increasingly vital. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, managerial acumen, and industry knowledge to ensure the successful deployment and operation of charging systems.
The Project Lead will oversee the successful completion of renewable energy solutions projects such as EV portable and/or home chargers. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing the project successfully, while managing the budget, timeline, and resources to ensure timely, on-budget delivery with highest standards of quality. The Project Lead will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project requirements and exceed customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the efficient and safe deployment of charging solutions for different needs and all types of customers.
- Studying and making research for the designs and specifications we owned for EV charging systems that align with national and local electrical standards.
- Following up with the team on conducting site assessments to evaluate the electrical capacity of the client's home and determining the optimal charging solution tailored to their specific needs.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the compatibility of the charging equipment with various electric vehicle models.
- Following the launching phase, he will be responsible for managing all customer orders and requests for chargers and spare parts, ensuring timely delivery and installation according to schedules. This requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to avoid delays that could disrupt customer service.
- Conducting a rigorous follow-up process, after the installation of the charging units, this includes post-installation inspections and testing to verify that the system operates correctly and safely.
- Educating clients about the usage, maintenance, and safety precautions associated with their home chargers is also a key responsibility. This educational component not only fosters customer satisfaction but also promotes the effective usage of the charging facilities.
In Summary, the EV Charging Infrastructure Business Unit will be responsible for handling orders for the installation, maintenance and after-service follow-up of “home or portable” EV chargers. The project lead must possess a combination of technical expertise, project management skills and a customer service focus. By effectively overseeing the implementation, ordering, installation and follow-up processes, the engineer plays a critical role in the successful integration of EV technology in residential settings and environments.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics or any other related field.
- Advanced degrees, such as a Master's in Engineering Management with a focus on sustainability provides a solid foundation in the principles that underpin electrical or/and renewable systems, OR Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) OR similar credentials demonstrate a commitment to best practices in project management within the context of renewable energy are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in same field and/or project management specifically within the renewable energy or electric vehicle sectors.
- Strong background in the field with technical proficiency in charging technologies and electrical systems to allow candidates to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in implementing charging infrastructure, including site assessments, regulatory compliance, and different stakeholders’ engagement.
- A Project Lead must be well-versed in the various types of charging stations, grid connection requirements, and the integration of renewable energy sources.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall, is preferable to enable the project lead to effectively coordinate diverse teams, manage timelines, and allocate resources efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and negotiation skills are vital for a successful Project Lead.
- Ability to liaise with the team, other departments, government officials, and different stakeholders from various backgrounds fosters collaboration and alignment towards common goals.
