Job Description
- Coordination with marketing and merchandising team: Meet with marketing team for future orders, present order status, and product costing and discuss the capacity status of the factory/s. He takes the decision to accept any order or not when there is less margin.
- Approvals from Buyers: Handle production issues and when required he can directly contact the buyer for approval of variations.
- Planning of production units: Production planning, Material planning, and machinery planning are done or reviewed by him.Style allocation to units (where handling multiple factories): Based on available capacity, product categories he allocates styles in different units. In case own factory capacity is less than required, he transfers orders to other factories for job work.
- Technical setting of the garment: For the reduction of making cost and production-friendly samples, he changes the technical setting of the garment.
- Involvement in pp meetings: Attend pre-production meetings and ensure that important points are discussed at meetings. Sales: Meeting with sales employees to set the season’s plan and make periodic meetings to ensure sales volume is meeting the target. Stores: meeting with store managers to ensure stores are selling as planned. Makes sure stores have the right products with the right amounts. Franchises: Discover new ways to enlarge the franchise offers and set a franchising plan. Exhibitions: Follow up with the exhibition yearly plans(booth set ups , clients invitations) set up the plans of the exhibition expected sales and ensure the exhibition fulfilled the planned sales volume.
- Production monitoring: Follow up day to day production from each line and ensures that production units meet the production target.
- Factory work study/industrial engineering: Follow up industrial engineering functions and systems.
- Quality of the finished product: Ensure that factory produces quality products at minimum alteration and repair cost. He ensures that only quality goods are shipped to the buyers.
- Shipment planning and shipments: Plan shipment dispatch with documentation and shipping department.
- Costing of production floor: Check manpower costing of each floor and try to keep manpower cost under control.
- Cost cutting of production processes: Cost-cutting is continuous goal for a General Manager. He looks into things possible ways where production cost can be minimized and goes for it.
- Employee Training: Motivate employees and enrich their knowledge in certain areas training program is arranged by him.
- Buyer Compliance: Make sure that all factories are compliant as per buyer.
- Recruitment: He also involved in hiring people to ensure that only the right personnel is employed to the company.
- Workers personal & welfare activities: These are also part of his job responsibilities.
- Inter departmental issues: Ensure smooth flow of information and material from one department to another. He resolves interdepartmental issues if there are any.
Job Requirements
- 10 years of experience or above in Textile factory is a must
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in a related field.
- Must have worked in factories involved in apparel garments production to understand the garment production cycle (from design to pattern making to production techniques to be able to utilize waste and make production cycle short and smooth to end up as a high quality finished garment in-store)
- Experience in areas of clothing operation or apparel factory management senior position.
Rich experience in garment production in terms of process, quality, stock management, sales forecast and waste utilization. - Project management skills.
