Founded in 1948, the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) is a private, nonprofit organization composed of educational and cultural institutions, professional scholars, and private individuals.
Through grants, fieldwork and field schools, ARCE’s partnership with Egyptians contributes to the shared goal of cultural heritage preservation. Over the years, ARCE’s strong relationship with the Ministry of Antiquities (MOA) (formerly the Supreme Council of Antiquities) has ensured the success of our work together.
ARCE’s mission is to support research on all aspects of Egyptian history and culture; to protect, preserve and promote Egyptian cultural heritage; and to strengthen American-Egyptian cultural collaboration.
We are looking for highly qualified and energetic talents for the "IT Supervisor" position as highlighted below.
Job Responsibilities
· Systems Management: Has overall responsibility for ARCE’s systems architecture, operations, security, updates, training, backups, and ongoing maintenance. Able to manage multiple servers, including; Windows Domain Controllers, FileMaker Pro, Back-Up, VMware ESXI, Dynamics GP/Great Plains, IIS Servers and File Servers. Installs and maintains Microsoft Windows workstations, printers, scanners, copiers, etc. Monitor and support network devices (switches, firewalls, etc.) as well as the wireless infrastructure. Ensure interoperability between ARCE’s Egypt and US systems and serve as a backup resource for US employees when needed.
· User Support: Sets up ARCE’s user accounts and mailboxes; serves as POC for resolving User support issues, re-setting passwords, restoring files, migrating User data as needed, training new Users and installing specialized applications or software required by Users. Provides support for User’s smartphone apps, laptops and other devices that connect to ARCE network or systems. Primary responsibility for systems operation and maintenance of Financial Unit’s Accounting platform.
· Hardware/Software Procurement, Security System: Has a subject matter expert role in the identification and testing hardware and software that needs to be purchased to support ARCE’s initiatives, including servers, workstations, printers, software packages, supplies, etc. Is the POC for installation and operation of Office CCTV system, wireless hotspots, and routers, and is responsible for managing the high-speed internet providers.
· Requisite: a sound, professional knowledge of IT principles related to server and desktop operations, networks, system and data security, Experience in managing Windows Domains (including Azure AD), Firewalls, MS SQL servers and FileMaker Pro databases.
· Requite: thorough knowledge of systems supported, including Microsoft 365 platforms, Wireless Communications, Internet, Cloud services, Smartphone communications apps, basic telephony and related communication systems.
· Must be able to determine work priorities and determine solutions to system or User IT problems in a logical, efficient way. Able to multitask and escalate issues timely and effectively.

. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Sciences.
· Minimum 4 solid years of experience in a similar position.
· Seek to identify opportunities to streamline or simplify existing business processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
· Able to maintain proper internal controls so that expenditures are managed correctly.
· Notify Senior Management of shortfalls/errors timely.
