Job Description
Job Purpose:
To develop, manage, and monitor project schedules, resources, and progress to ensure timely delivery of construction projects within budget and scope. The Planning Engineer plays a critical role in coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to maintain alignment with the project timeline and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed baseline project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
Analyze project scope, drawings, and specifications to create work breakdown structures (WBS).
Monitor project progress, update schedules, and generate lookahead programs.
Identify critical path activities and propose corrective actions to avoid delays.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, highlighting variances and risks.
Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure schedule alignment.
Forecast manpower, material, and equipment needs based on the project plan.
Track and record actual site progress against planned progress.
Evaluate and report delays or disruptions, and participate in delay analysis and claims.
Attend project meetings and present planning updates to management and clients.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project deliverables.
Support cost control teams with progress-based billing and earned value analysis.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning, preferably with large-scale projects.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
Strong knowledge of construction processes and project lifecycle.
Familiarity with project management tools and techniques (WBS, CPM, EVM, etc.).
Experience in delay analysis and extension of time (EOT) claims is an advantage.
Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
