- JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
- Plans, schedules and assures completion of assigned maintenance work and special projects for a given maintenance area or a given type of plant or equipment throughout the hospital and its other installations.
- Coordinates maintenance programs with user units to determine relative priorities and on-time completion of work in critical operating facilities with available work force.
- Assigns maintenance manpower within his assigned area to meet daily changes in operating requirements and priorities. Recommends special work schedules, overtime and participation to meet unusual or emergency situations.
- Reports to concerned Chief Operating Officer on quality and quantity of workmanship and adherence to standards within his department and recommends improved work methods. Reports on deviation from approved schedules and assists in the correction of such deviations
- Coordinates maintenance work between Maintenance Sections when services from various divisions are required.
- Develops centralized safety, security, and risk management goals, objectives, and programs consistent to SG hospital’s mission, vision, philosophy, and strategic plan in consultation with Safety Department to prevent adverse events that could result in claims, liability, and/or financial and credibility loss against SGH.
- Recognizes and responds to accidents, incidents, and sentinel events at all times in collaboration with Safety Department Manager.
- Manages and directs all medical equipment insurance liability claims to the President’s Office according to SGH insurance provider.
- Works closely with Safety and T.Q.M. Safety Departments in monitoring responsibilities required to identify, analyze, manage, and controls problems on risks management. The organization chart and committee structures should clarify the reporting and liaising mechanisms and functions for Safety, T.Q.M. and Maintenance Departments to avoid duplication of time and effort, to know their limitations, and to prevent future conflict.
- Conducts periodic inspection of the hospital premises to instill awareness, limit and correct deficiencies, and identify potential liability within SGH building and outside parameters.
- Recommends for reduction or write-off of defective equipment or facility that is beyond repair after thorough verification and testing equipment.
- Ensures risk standards compliance with MOH, ARAMCO, MRQP and other third pary payers to meet their standards.
- Conducts related maintenance management education at least annually for nursing, medical, and ancillary staff in coordination with Academic Affairs and Research Center.
- Performs special assignments as directed, utilizing his engineering knowledge and experience. Such assignments may include work direction to Bio-Medical Maintenance Engineer.
- Application of Maintenance Engineering knowledge when specializing in Digital Maintenance Engineering.
- Performs engineering analysis of real time, process control digital systems in central operations facilities to aid in fault diagnosis. Evaluates maintenance activity on digital systems. Provides professional level expertise to the solution of complex hardware problems.
- Provides technical support and/or work direction to Maintenance staff Engineers and Technicians ensuring proper maintenance and repair for dependable operation in assigned central operation facility.
- Performs fault diagnosis and difficult troubleshooting of central operation digital systems down to the component level by using software diagnostics, assembly or machine language programming and test equipment as appropriate.
- Supervises and validates circuit design to facilitate maintenance, for interfacing distributed systems to data highway or for replacing existing capability with another circuit design when vendor-supplied parts are not in stock.
- Ensures that equipment periodic maintenance is performed in accordance with vendor recommendations and procedures and that maintenance logs and records are maintained.
- Maintains current maintenance hardware documentation. Insures hardware modifications are current with vendor recommendations. Coordinates vendor representative's activities when in the facility.
- Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with T.Q.M. staff in SG Hospitals communicating regularly risk management concerns; and changes in safety and security regulations and/or law to appropriate parties.
- Serves as a member of hospital-wide committees in a position elected or designated to run such committee effectively.
- Prepares regular reports through the Chief Operating Officer on Risk Management issues and trends and presents to the organization’s Safety and Risk Management Committee.
- Participates in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget to include preparation of insurance budget for hospital facilities and equipment.
- Participates in local, regional, and national organizations that are concerned with safety, security and risk management programs as a responsibility for personal and leadership development.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of local regulations and laws that impact related to safety, maintenance, and building management including current knowledge of “state of the art” risk prevention/management programs.
- Attends to work related to hospital safety responding to SG Hospital sentinel event (critical situation) without delay and making him readily available even if it is after office hours.
- Cooperate in conducting hospital-wide dry-run on fire protocol and other safety measures in collaboration with Safety Manager and responsible government agency to comply with permit requirements in doing so.
- Attends to scheduled or unscheduled management and hospital-wide committee meetings to discuss and resolve risks and safety related issues.
- Supervises to ensure completion of workers engaged in:
- repairing physical structures and utility systems of buildings and maintaining grounds.
- painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork.
- furnishings of buildings.
- repairing building utility systems, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilating systems.
- water distributing and plumbing systems.
- installing, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment.
- Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
- Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
- Performs other duties necessary as requested by the higher management.
