Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Site Quantity Surveying (QS) Engineer to join our solar construction team. This role is responsible for monitoring actual quantities executed on-site, preparing and validating progress invoicing, managing material usage in alignment with contracts, supporting procurement decisions through make-or-buy analysis, and assisting in cost estimation activities. The QS Engineer will work under the guidance of the Cost Control Manager to ensure financial accuracy and commercial efficiency throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Invoicing and Quantity Certification
- Measure and certify actual quantities executed at the site in alignment with contract BOQs and drawings.
- Prepare monthly progress invoices for clients and subcontractors.
- Maintain records of executed work against planned quantities for project tracking and reporting.
2. Material Management & Contracts
- Monitor material deliveries, usage, and on-site inventory to align with project progress.
- Track and report material consumption rates and compare with allowable quantities.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms regarding material supply, storage, and handover procedures.
- Highlight discrepancies, wastage, or overuse of materials in coordination with site and procurement teams.
3. Make-or-Buy Analysis Support
- Assist in evaluating construction items and activities to support make-or-buy decisions.
- Collect and analyze site data on resource utilization, labor productivity, and subcontractor performance.
4. Cost Estimation Support
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for additional works, variations, or new project scopes.
- Support development of cost baselines and cost forecasts based on actual execution trends.
5. Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly commercial reports including quantity updates, invoicing status, and material usage.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of all site commercial activities, including backup for claims or variations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of site-based QS experience, preferably in solar or energy infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in quantity surveying and site documentation tools (Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction materials, measurement standards, and contract clauses.
- Familiarity with solar components and installation processes (PV modules, BOS items, etc.).
