Job Description
- Ensure condition of electrical and instrumentation equipment is maintained to OEM specifications.
- Ensure electrical installations are maintained to a safe standard to prevent personnel exposure to electrical hazards.
- Conduct quality control/quality assurance checks on work completed to ensure work is of the highest standard.
- Ensure drawings and schematics are up to date and readily available.
- Planning, Scheduling, Parts Procurement.
- Work is identified and planned in accordance with SGM Enterprise Asset Management framework.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) tasks are identified as the most important work type and prioritised accordingly.
- Foster and develop a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Identify plant defects and bottlenecks and initiate corrective action to resolve.
- Ensure that health, safety and environmental policies are strictly adhered to at all times.
- Ensure SWP’s are utilised and complied with.
- Regularly initiate and participate in health and safety topics at toolbox meetings.
- Develop safe work procedures.
- Ensure JSA’s and/or Take 5’s are completed and understood to help identify underlying risks and hazards when carrying out all tasks.
- Intervene and enforce employees to abide by the SGM health, safety and environmental policies.
- Identify and report hazards in the workplace on a continuous basis.
- Ensure work undertaken is maintenance in nature and not capital or improvement work that is not part of the maintenance budget.
- Work towards minimising waste, inefficiencies and rework.
- Ensure that electrical workers are developed to a satisfactory level to perform their duties.
- Ensure all mandatory training is refreshed annually for all electrical workers.
- Ensure staff development, training programs and performance interactions are adhered to according to the required schedules.
- Assist in coaching, mentoring and developing the staff.
- Ensure the performance of the staff is of a high standard.
- Conduct and/or assist in the annual performance appraisals.
- Manage conflict resolution promptly, appropriately and effectively.
- Report personnel and conflict issues to Superintendent immediately.
- Ensure attendance and punctuality is to a satisfactory standard.
- Organise and/or assist in approving annual leave, emergency leave and sick leave for all national electrical employees.
- Actively participate in all section activities, shift handover communications, toolbox meetings and any other activities required by the Electrical Superintendent.
- Liaise with other cross-functional sections in order to gain agreement on priorities to enable completion of tasks in a timely and safe manner.
Job Requirements
- 5-7 Years in a similar supervisory role in a large-scale mining or heavy industrial operation
- Working knowledge of metalliferous processing equipment and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Infor, Mainpac, or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge of Australian Electrical Wiring Standards.
- Ability to schedule and plan preventative maintenance tasks.
- Strong understanding of PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Ability to rectify problems during breakdown situations and conduct root cause analysis of failures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently when required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify hazards in the workplace and take corrective action.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Respectful, courteous, and collaborative with colleagues.
