Position Summary:
Zewail City of Science and Technology is seeking a visionary and detail-oriented Art Director to lead the creative direction of our communications and marketing efforts. The Art Director will be responsible for conceptualizing and overseeing the production of all visual assets that reflect the university’s brand identity, mission, and strategic objectives. This includes print, digital, and multimedia outputs that support institutional visibility, academic recruitment, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Leadership:
- Lead the visual storytelling and design strategy across all communications
and marketing initiatives. - Set and maintain high visual standards that align with Zewail City’s brand
values as a national hub for science, innovation, and technology. - Ensure that all technical requirements from a design and multimedia perspective are met, such as laptops, cameras, and software—so that the team is fully equipped to perform their tasks efficiently and to the highest standards
Brand Stewardship
- Develop and manage brand guidelines and ensure consistent application
across all platforms and materials. - Ensure visual identity remains innovative and competitive within higher
education and research sectors.
Campaign & Content Design:
- Oversee the visual development of integrated marketing campaigns,
publications, presentations, website design, social media graphics, signage,
and videos. - Collaborate with the content team on visual content optimized for various
channels and platforms.
Team Management:
- Supervise in-house designers, Multimedia officers, and freelancers, providing creative direction and constructive feedback.
- Coordinate with external vendors, production agencies, and illustrators when necessary.
- Maintain and expand a trusted pool of freelancers (designers, illustrators, animators).
- Coordinate with vendors and printing houses to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Oversee procurement processes for creative services and materials.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, Content
Manager, and other stakeholders to translate institutional priorities into
compelling visuals. - Participate in strategic planning sessions and contribute creative input on
messaging and audience engagement.
Production Oversight:
- Oversee timelines, budgets, and quality control for creative projects from
concept to delivery. - Ensure compliance with accessibility and inclusivity standards in all visual
outputs.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports highlighting creative output, performance, and KPIs.
- Evaluate and optimize visual strategies based on performance metrics and feedback.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 7 years of experience in design and art direction, preferably in academic, research, or non-profit environments.
- Proven experience developing visual identities and managing brand systems.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design excellence across digital, print, and multimedia platforms.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and design prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD).
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and digital design trends.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working in science, education, or research institutions.
- Familiarity with video production workflows and storyboarding.
- Basic understanding of Arabic language and cultural context (English fluency required).
