We currently have an opportunity for an EH&S Director (Remote assignment) Environment, health & safety to work on a major development, a giga project located in the northeastern part of the Red Sea. Provide leadership and guidance to EH&S team members and project managers to promote a culture of safety and accountability. Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols. Collaborate with project teams to integrate EH&S considerations into project planning, design, and execution phases. Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify contributing factors and implement corrective and preventive actions. Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and stakeholders to stay informed of EH&S developments and requirements. Develop and deliver EH&S training programs and initiatives to educate employees and subcontractors on safety policies, procedures, and best practices. Monitor EH&S performance metrics and trends, analyze data, and prepare reports for management review and decision-making. Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance EH&S performance, mitigate risks, and achieve organizational EH&S goals. Stay current on emerging EH&S trends, technologies, and regulations to proactively address emerging issues and opportunities.Innovation and collaborationInnovation is about creating value from ideas. The Safety, Security and Environment Regional Director will be expected to generate ideas in the areas of safety, health, environment, security and worker welfare (contractors directly / not directly employed by AtkinsRéalis) that will enhance our reputation and improve the way we work.Support cross-selling of innovative ways of working to Middle East countries and across other regions, as managed by the Head of QSSE Safety, Security and EnvironmentShaping the industry through thought leadership, meaning that new strategic themes and/or operational tactics are put into practice internally and published / communicated to the building and construction sector (via media publications, public speaking at safety conferences, attendance at safety strategy workshops etc.) to influence safety standards.Provide insight to clients which they value, to support the improvement in our client’s safety culture (as measured by our client’s safety maturity assessment) and enhance our reputation with our clients.Business developmentProvide safety, security and environment technical input to bid proposals, where required and provide advice on the safety related resourcing levels and competencies required for effective delivery of project safety, security and environment objectives.Participate in bid presentations to clients, clearly positioning AtkinsRéalis as an industry leader, and effectively communicating the proposed project safety, security and environment deliverables.Safety resource and competency levels are appropriate for the scale and complexity of the project, and the safety maturity of the client and contractor(s). Measured by exception i.e. the need to re-assess resourcing as a result of disclosure of insufficiency.Bid proposals are enhanced by thorough and innovative technical input, and communications (in client presentations and meetings) that add value to the AtkinsRéalis ’proposition, as measured by feedback from the bid director / manager.People developmentSupport the recruitment process for safety personnel within country using the competency framework to establish baseline requirements.Establish (in collaboration with their line manager) development objectives and performance targets for all safety personnel in-country.‘Right-first-time’ recruitment of personnel who meet the required competency standards, as measured by results of performance appraisals (expected level 3 performance assessment) within 12 months of recruitment.Country level performance assessment of all safety personnel (100% PDR completion), with areas for development clearly described and planned.Stakeholder managementWork closely with operational management within AtkinsRéalis to promote core HSE values and act as a champion for “See it, stop it, save a life” – through attendance at country senior leadership team meetings, operational meetings, workshops and training.Regularly present on safety and security topics at monthly staff briefings – common theme to be use of QSSE Incident Reporting system and importance of near-miss reporting.Development and implementation of a country stakeholder management plan with expected / planned outcomes and realised outcomes.Safety, security and environment presentations at 100% of monthly staff briefings in-country.Monitoring, reviewing and reportingProvide assurance through auditing that AtkinsRéalis operations (all divisions in KSA) are fully compliant with AtkinsRéalis HSEMS (including AtkinsRéalis Minimum Requirements for Construction Safety (AMR)) and Middle East Security Standard.To ensure, through auditing, the maintenance of legally compliant worker welfare standards on constructions sites and labour camps whether contractually obligated to do so, or with the permission of clients / contractors. As a result, to establish AtkinsRéalis position on worker welfare across the country portfolio of relevant projects, noting exceptions and developing action plans for remediation where relevant.Evidence of 100% controls compliance reported by external audits including clients/PMCs/regulatory authorities/certification body and internal audits conducted by Group QSSE.Compliance with the Group escalation procedure for accidents / incidents.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred. Minimum of 20 years of experience in EH&S management, preferably in the construction industry. Candidate should possess middle east experience. In-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and relevant industry-specific requirements. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Proven track record of developing and implementing EH&S programs and initiatives that drive measurable results. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
