Total Number of Openings1Trades physical and financial commodities in the international and domestic trading markets, both spot and term. Strives for asset optimization and trading profit. Develops trading strategies, initiates and manages physical and financial positions for profit, and manages risk exposure for system and trading positions. Executes trades for Chevron's equity volumes, supply activity for refineries, and third party trading for profit positions.Leads projects of medium scope and complexity. Chevron provides an outstanding culture, inclusive leadership, career opportunities and the tools for success – you bring the Human Energy™!The successful candidate will be one with good technical knowledge of petroleum products and refining operations, with experience heavy distillate commodities such as Residual Fuel Oil and Refinery Feedstocks, able to make decisions and grasp concepts quickly, with a proven ability to produce positive results, have an eye for detail and strong leadership to positively influence others in the team.As a products trader, this individual will cover and develop deal flow around heavy distillate products for the Middle East and Africa, including global arbitrage opportunities. The individual requires knowledge and experience in regional product markets, arbitrage position (to/from AG, Far East, and the West), as well as strong understanding and execution of financial derivatives.Key Job Responsibilities For This Position Generates and develops sound trading strategies that result in increased profitability for the book. Trades in heavy distillates products physical markets, financial commodities and blending, spot and term, in pursuit of system optimization and trading for profit. Engage with industry experts and maintain strong internal and external relationships. Develops new trading markets for heavy distillate products/components and new business opportunities to increase existing deal flow. Negotiates spot & term contracts and ensuring each contract is performed in accordance with agreed terms. Provides visible leadership by working with team members in the development of regional and global trading strategies for short to long term time horizons. Communicates strategy, transactions, position and operational requirements to team and supporting staff. Evaluates markets and market trends and shares point of view with Supply & Trading and Marketing teams. Exhibits and demonstrates strong operational excellence and discipline in managing trading positions. Executes complex buy / sell / exchange spot and term agreements. Applies compromise / trade-offs to achieve terms of optimal value to Chevron. Resolves commercial disputes through negotiating skills. Holds strong understanding of underlying markets. Shares best practices with team members on negotiating skills / techniques. Ensures all trading activities are conducted within appropriate delegations of authority and conform with Risk Manual Guidelines Is known in the industry and within Chevron as an expert in area of responsibility.Required Qualifications Degree Level (or equivalent) in one of the following fields is preferred: Engineering, Economics, Business, Marketing. 3+ years of market experience in Oil Products. Excellent record - in previous and current roles - of being strongly driven towards future success. Demonstrated leadership, positive influence and teamwork behaviors. A self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic high-pressure diverse team environment. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in physical marketing, operations, supply and/or trading, including inventory management, hedging, and position taking. Demonstrated understanding of regional and/or global markets, market exposure, risk management, basis risk, blending and arbitrage economics. Demonstrated experience with detailed commercial negotiations. Demonstrated experience in using analytical and problem-solving techniques. A flexible approach to working hours is vital to accommodate the significant variation in workloads associated with a busy trading operation. Periodic travel may be required.Preferred Qualifications Fuel Oil and Refinery Feedstocks trading and blending Bunker trading and marketing experience Demonstrated understanding and utilization of fundamental and technical market data to propose trading strategies and to manage company exposure.Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.
