Job Description

Our client, a premier medical facility, is currently looking for a Staff Nurse – Lactation Consultant to be based in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. For this role, you will have the following responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive lactation assessments of breastfeeding mothers and infants, evaluating latch, milk transfer, breastfeeding positioning, and maternal-infant bonding, utilizing evidence-based assessment tools and clinical judgment. Provide individualized lactation education, counseling, and support to breastfeeding mothers and their families, addressing common breastfeeding concerns, promoting breastfeeding techniques, and offering guidance on milk supply management, nipple care, and infant feeding cues. Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement breastfeeding care plans tailored to the unique needs of each mother-infant dyad, including preterm infants, multiples, and infants with special healthcare needs. Assist mothers with initiating breastfeeding within the first hour of birth, facilitating skin-to-skin contact, and promoting the establishment of the breastfeeding relationship during the early postpartum period. Educate healthcare staff and community partners about breastfeeding best practices, evidence-based lactation care, and the role of the lactation consultant in promoting breastfeeding-friendly environments. Conduct prenatal breastfeeding classes, postpartum breastfeeding support groups, and community breastfeeding education sessions to promote breastfeeding awareness, empower mothers with accurate information, and foster peer support networks. Assess and manage common lactation-related issues, such as engorgement, mastitis, nipple pain, inadequate milk supply, and infant oral anomalies, providing timely interventions and referrals as needed to optimize breastfeeding outcomes. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of lactation assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and professional standards. Stay informed about current research, guidelines, and best practices in lactation management, attending continuing education seminars, workshops, and conferences to enhance clinical knowledge and skills. Advocate for breastfeeding-friendly policies, practices, and resources within healthcare facilities, community organizations, and public health initiatives, promoting breastfeeding as the optimal infant feeding choice for maternal-child health and well-being. RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you need to meet the following criteria:A Bachelors Degree in Nursing is required. Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Clinical Nursing. 2 years experience in Lactation Consultant. Must be eligible to take the SCFHS exam. Preferably with valid SCFHS Nursing Specialist/Technician license/certificate. Current licensure as a professional registered nurse.
