Job Description

Role PurposeThe role is responsible for due diligence, deal selection & structuring the FIs equity investment deals in accordance with the overall investment and risk guidelines. Responsible for developing in-house methodology and expertise in nurturing FIs constituting the investment portfolio and to monitor portfolio performance backed by effective project execution throughout its life cycle. The role further ensures implementation of portfolio activities as per the stated agreements and identification & escalation of potential roadblocks or risks.Key Functional Accountabilities And ActivitiesDeveloping Financial Channels:Participate in entering new markets and expanding client base to cover new channels and entities to direct ICD financing to the private sector.Assist in developing new products to meet the requirements of ICD and its clients.Project Sourcing & OriginationAssess the feasibility of the investment opportunity.Coordinate with Partnership Division/ Regional Offices (ROs) and / or with other departments of ICD and external parties for identifying and sourcing relevant transactions as per the strategy and business plan of the Equity Department. Facilitate Equity marketing and awareness campaigns in target member-countries.Participate in client origination and sourcing strategy based upon target countries, products, sectors and developmental goals aligned with overall strategic direction.Periodically discuss pipeline and appraising these with the progress on deals and projects under the approval and disbursement stage.Project Appraisal & ApprovalPerform necessary tasks and processes in order to secure the required approvals of ICD for investment opportunities that are feasible.Present investment proposals to the appropriate approval authorities after soliciting approvals through RMD, Legal, Development Effectiveness, Compliance and ShariahNegotiate with the client to finalize transaction terms and conditions.Prepare appropriate deal structure per the Investment criteria, finalizing term sheet and obtaining client’s acceptance to the structure and terms.Coordinate with legal department for legal review, preparing transaction documentation and closing transaction within the specified timeline.Establishing strong client relationship for the tenure of investment/financingEnsure that disbursements take place per compliance with CPs of transaction terms.Portfolio & Investment ManagementCoordinate all the processes after the approvals which include disbursements for both equity and financing transactions related to Equities.Participate in creating framework for managing portfolio companies & valuation models and ensuring effective implementation.Track ICD's equity portfolio to identify the areas where technical skills and expertise will be required to support ICD beneficiaries effectively going forward.Continuous monitoring to balance the portfolio.Prepare and transfer distressed projects to Special Operations Division as per internal policies.Identify any problems and work out, negotiation, clear and implement limited restructuring solutions in exceptional circumstances.Monitor the board activities of the investee companies in coordination with the ICD board nominees.Ensure that timely and effective decisions are taken by ICD as a shareholder and communicated on its behalf in respect of the portfolio companies.Monitoring & ReportingAssess deal and portfolio investment performance quarterly by developing appropriate dash-board reports. Track impact on valuations and following up on distressed assets. Liaising with Special Operations to formulate recovery strategies.Assist in formulating exit strategies: preparing info memos and assisting in conducting valuations and implementing the exit process.Maintain credit lines and apply for new ones to match business needs ensuring that these are being extended to SMEs and end users thereby achieving the desired development impact in addition to generating the necessary ROI.Monitor existing equity portfolios for early detection of potential value erosion and adopting necessary strategy for safeguarding ICD’s interest and reporting the results to the management for corrective measures, if needed.Monitor and follow up to ensure timely payments by the clients.Monitor on-going projects and inform RMD / IC on policy breach and propose waiver / restructuring when needed.Provide regular management reports with analysis and comments on Equity portfolio performance and results.Prepare periodic updates to the ICD Management on the performance and matters relating to the investee companies.Qualifications/ Professional ExperienceAt least 6 years of relevant experience in Equity Investment related roles at a reputable financial institution, financial advisory firm, or private equity firm (or equivalent) is a must.Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or any other relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject is a must.
