Job Description Calves Finishing Unit Manager | Haradh, KSATitle: Calves finishing unit managerLocation: Haradh, KSAJob Summary: To oversee and manage the technical aspects of contract farming operations, and provide technical guidance by implementing best practices, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and optimizing livestock productivity.Responsibilities:1. Strategic Contribution:Direct the implementation of the annual business plan and targets and implement the strategic agenda of the Technical Services department to deliver the company's vision and mission.Ensure that the strategy is translated into operational business plans for the Technical Services department and monitor the performance and execution of those plans to achieve functional objectives and deliver the Company's strategy.2. Leadership:Direct the activities of the Technical Services team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures.Build and lead a motivated, engaged and competent team, by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet the functional challenges and goals. Serve as a role model to ensure employees' awareness and commitment to the company's vision, mission, values, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated team, and continuously improve performance.3. Main duties:Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various farming activities, including animal husbandry, feeding, breeding, and health management.Conduct training sessions for contract farmers on livestock management techniques, disease prevention, and biosecurity measures.Regularly monitor the performance of fattening unit, analyze data, and provide feedback to improve efficiency and outcomes.Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure the availability of high-quality inputs, feed ingredients, vaccines, medicine, and equipment, for fattening unit.Strong knowledge of livestock production techniques, health management, and biosecurity protocols.Demonstrated proficiency in rearing suckling calves, ensuring proper nutrition, health monitoring, and overall care to facilitate their transition into the feedlot.Oversee all aspects of the feedlot operation, including feeding regimes, health monitoring, and ensuring optimal growth and performance of beef cattle.Manage and coordinate activities on a large-scale beef fattening farm, overseeing the care of cattle from entry to finishing.Lead and supervise feedlot staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure efficient operations.Monitor the health and welfare of cattle, implementing appropriate health protocols and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.Ensure proper maintenance of feedlot facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to support beef fattening operations.Stay updated on the latest advancements in livestock technologies, farming techniques, and breeding-specific requirements to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.Conduct research and analysis to identify and recommend suitable breed varieties, nutrient management strategies, and integrated animal husbandry approaches for Fattening Unit.Collaborate with the quality control department to establish and maintain quality assurance processes, including sampling, testing, and compliance with the required standards and certifications.Qualifications:5-7 years of experience in livestock management, preferably in contract farming or large-scale farming operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.
