The data we generate provides our clients with the information they need to make critical, well informed, business decisions.UTEC is currently seeking to hire a Senior Geophysicist on a full-time, permanent basis for their Offshore team in Abu Dhabi, UAE.The Geophysicist is responsible for all aspects relating to the quality of the recorded geophysical data, the completeness of the survey, and the interpretation of the geophysical records. He is also responsible for writing the final report and overseeing the production of charts, in coordination with the Base Geophysicist/Project Manager.Duties/ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive geophysical surveys, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data collectionAssist Party Chief to develop the Plan for geophysical data acquisition as per scope and specificationTo check all geophysical survey equipment, data logging and Interpretation systems during the mobilisationParticipate in installation, interfacing, setting up and configuration of all survey equipment and systems, and undertake their verification and calibrations in the port and fieldEnsure the quality and adequacy of the data acquired to enable interpretation and Reporting and meeting the objectives of the survey workCreate and maintain the software project of SSS, SBP, Maggy and other geophysical datasetsCross-reference data with other available datasetsIn discussion with the Party Chief, order re-runs if data quality is not adequateDuly annotate and backup the software projects regularly in the field. Ensure the predefined folder structure is maintainedTo carryout detailed interpretation of geophysical data in the field and prepare preliminary field reportsCarryout QC of all the geophysical charts accompanying the Survey ReportTo acquire Grab, drop-core / vibro-core seabed samples, carryout onboard analysis of the samples, preparation of soil sample log sheet, proper sealing of samples and QC of lab-test reports receivedPrepare detailed reports summarizing geophysical results, providing clear and actionable recommendationsRequirementsBachelors degree in geology/geophysics/other geoscience subjectMasters in geophysics is preferredMinimum 10 years field experience as a geophysicistFamiliar with CODA and SonarWiz data processing software.Technical understanding and knowledge of major survey equipment and software used in the offshore survey sectorFully vaccinated against COVID-19, having received both initial jabs and booster shots
